A National High-Tech Enterprise Specializing in the Engineering & Export of Solid Carbide Cutting Tools.
Established in 2008, Suzhou Tier Tool Co., Ltd. is a leading national high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research, development, custom manufacturing, and global exportation of professional solid carbide boring bars and hole-making accessories. For over a decade, we have partnered with key industries—aerospace, defense, automotive power train, heavy power generation, and precision tooling—to resolve complex internal diameter (ID) profile milling, turning, and micro-boring challenges.
In modern manufacturing, tool deflection is the primary bottleneck for precision metal removal. At Tier Tool, we implement custom substrate configurations and dynamic vibration suppression technologies to construct robust boring bars that secure maximum tool life, high surface finish, and minimal cycle time.
With massive investments in advanced CNC tool grinding systems (sourced from market-leading engineering houses in Germany and Switzerland) and world-class inspection facilities, Tier Tool guarantees micrometric consistency. We execute standard and custom OEM/ODM tooling programs, ensuring that our products adhere strictly to regional engineering codes and international safety profiles.
Analyzing mechanical dynamics, vibration damping, and material compositions for long-reach internal turning applications.
When selecting a boring bar for high-ratio internal diameter (ID) profiling, mechanical engineers must balance the trade-off between stiffness, damping capacity, and chip evacuation. Unlike external turning, boring bars are cantilevered beams subjected to complex cyclic cutting forces. The deflection of the tool tip is directly proportional to the cube of the overhang length (L) and inversely proportional to the Young's modulus (E) of the material and the moment of inertia (I) of the cross-section.
For operations where the Length-to-Diameter (L/D) ratio is less than 4xD, high-tensile structural alloy steel boring bars offer sufficient elasticity to absorb radial forces. However, once the L/D ratio surpasses 5xD, steel bars suffer from excessive deflection and severe harmonic vibration (chatter). Under these conditions, Solid Carbide Boring Bars (tungsten carbide with cobalt binders) become vital. With a Young's modulus exceeding 600 GPa—nearly triple that of steel (210 GPa)—solid carbide bars deliver exceptional stiffness, allowing high precision machining up to 8xD or even 10xD ratios without loss of dimensional tolerance.
Deep-hole boring is notoriously vulnerable to thermal build-up and chip recutting. Recutting chips not only damages the surface finish but also causes sudden insert edge chipping, resulting in tool failure. Tier Tool solves this with specialized internal dual-coolant channels. By directing high-pressure coolant (up to 70 bar/1000 psi) precisely to the insert's cutting tip, we ensure instantaneous chip fragmentation and rapid evacuation out of the bore cavity, protecting both the tool and the workpiece.
How Tier Tool's OEM/ODM boring bars perform across international production floors and distinct machining standards.
Industrial manufacturing requirements vary substantially by geographic region, driven by local supply chains, materials, and target end-markets. Tier Tool customizes boring bar structural metrics and insert geometry targets to align with these localized environments:
Securing competitive advantages through strategic mineral proximity, regional logistics, and automated manufacturing scaling.
Our manufacturing base in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, positions Tier Tool at the heart of the world's most robust industrial tooling cluster. This location offers significant advantages for our global distributors and OEM customers:
First, direct access to premium tungsten raw materials. China controls over 80% of the global tungsten supply chain. Because of this, Tier Tool maintains a secure, uninterrupted supply of high-grade raw tungsten carbide powder. We are shielded from the severe market price fluctuations and supply shortages that disrupt manufacturers in other parts of the world.
Second, advanced manufacturing automation. Our production lines feature multi-axis CNC grinding machines, automated laser engraving, and robotic handling systems. This high degree of automation keeps lead times for custom ODM boring bars down to 10–15 business days, compared to the 8–10 week industry average, without compromising dimensional consistency.
Third, logistical connectivity. Proximity to major global shipping hubs in Shanghai and Ningbo allows us to offer versatile, cost-effective freight options (air, sea, or express parcel) with rapid customs clearance procedures, ensuring on-time delivery to ports worldwide.
Pioneering smart tools and advanced coating tech to meet the demands of tomorrow's unmanned manufacturing environments.
Development of boring bars with embedded sensor technology. These tools monitor temperature, vibration, and insert wear in real-time, sending data directly to the CNC control unit to prevent part damage during unmanned shifts.
Deploying specialized CVD and PVD coatings, such as Titanium Silicon Nitride (TiSiN) and diamond-like carbon (DLC), designed to withstand temperatures up to 1100°C. These coatings extend tool life when machining hard steels and titanium alloys.
Using metal 3D printing (SLM) to produce custom steel boring heads with optimized helical coolant channels. This technology improves coolant flow dynamics and chip evacuation compared to traditional drilled coolant holes.
Uncompromising standards in dimensional metrology, custom branding, and international trade compliance.
As a global supplier, Tier Tool ensures all export products meet destination market regulatory and performance standards. Our operations comply with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems, and we offer full traceability from the raw material batch to the finished tool.
We supply material test reports, dimensional inspection certificates, and run-out accuracy records with every shipment. For OEM/ODM customers, we provide customized laser marking, private labeling, and regional packaging options that meet international shipping rules, including IPPC wood packaging standards.
Our technical team provides comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle. We assist with initial tool selection, cutting parameter optimization (calculating feeds, speeds, and DOC based on workpiece materials), and troubleshooting. This support helps our customers maximize productivity and get the most value from our tooling systems.
