Industrial Export Experience
South Korea stands as a global powerhouse in heavy industries, automotive manufacturing (led by giants like Hyundai and Kia), shipbuilding (HD Hyundai), and advanced microelectronics (Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix). Each of these fields requires hole-making processes that execute at maximum speeds without sacrificing tolerances. High-speed, automated production lines cannot afford frequent downtime due to premature tool failure or inconsistent drilling performance.
"In South Korea’s highly automated Smart Factories, cutting tool durability dictates the output efficiency of the entire assembly line. Modern solid carbide drill bits have transitioned from simple cutting tools to critical factors in line throughput optimization."
Tungsten Carbide (WC) combined with a Cobalt (Co) binder represents the apex of tool material technology. The ratio of WC grain size and Cobalt concentration defines the tool's characteristics:
1. Gumi and Suwon Electronics Clusters (Semiconductors & PCBs): In high-density interconnect (HDI) PCB manufacturing, micro-drills with diameters ranging from 0.1mm to 0.4mm are required to run at speeds exceeding 150,000 RPM. The focus is to eliminate drilling deflection and ensure clean, smear-free copper wall finishes.
2. Ulsan and Gwangju Automotive Complexes (Hardened Molds & Powertrain Components): Drilling crankshafts, engine blocks (ADC12 aluminum), and structural parts requires high HRC capability (HRC55 to HRC65) and internal coolant channels to flush chips out of deep holes (3D to 8D depths) instantly.
Our tools feature web thinning, optimized split-point profiles (135° and 140°), and progressive helix angles designed to reduce axial force, prevent drilling wandering, and facilitate effortless chip evacuation.
Utilizing high-performance coating recipes including TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) for heat insulation, DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) for low friction, and CVD diamond coatings for structural carbon composite drilling.
Every single batch produced at Tier Tool undergoes thorough optical and physical checks utilizing Zoller measuring machines and Keyence 3D profile measurement systems to maintain strict runout thresholds.
Advanced Chinese Tooling Production with High Efficiency, Rapid Logistics, and Global Quality Standards
Established in 2008, Suzhou Tier Tool Co., Ltd. is a national high-tech enterprise specializing in the design, manufacturing, and technical support of precision solid carbide cutting tools. Located in China's premier industrial manufacturing corridor, we leverage a highly integrated supply chain to deliver high-performance hole-making and metalworking tooling solutions worldwide.
To ensure consistency, we have invested in advanced manufacturing equipment, operating multiple imported CNC tool grinding machines and precision inspection systems. This setup enables complete in-house capabilities, spanning from tool design and prototyping to small-batch testing and large-scale manufacturing.
The China Efficiency Advantage: Lower raw material sourcing costs, streamlined labor logistics, and continuous multi-axis tool grinding operations mean we deliver premium European-level tolerances at competitive pricing with fast turnaround times to the Incheon and Busan ports.
Quality is the foundation of our long-term success. Adhering to the principle of "Quality First, Continuous Improvement," we implement strict process control and traceability standards at every manufacturing phase to ensure repeatability and reliability.
Understanding drilling conditions and specifications to maximize tool efficiency and ROI.
Standard 118° points are recommended for softer, general-purpose metals. For tough materials like stainless steel and titanium, a 135° or 140° split point reduces centering deflection and lowers starting torque.
For holes deeper than 3 times the diameter (3D), internal coolant feeds are highly recommended. They supply high-pressure coolant directly to the cutting zone, lowering thermal load and clearing out chips.
TiAlN is ideal for dry machining alloy steel, while TiN provides an effective baseline for carbon steel drilling. For specialized non-ferrous materials like aluminum and copper, DLC coatings are the standard choice.
